Condolence from Tracy A. Harris on March 4th, 2022 6:00 pm

My deepest condolences to the family, on the loss of Kevin.

Kevin was my first boss at my first “adult job” at Radio Shack in Arabi, La. He saw something in me, which I clearly didn’t and pushed me to learn more and more about electronics. As a young person, to have someone older believe in you when you’re unsure and unsteady, means the difference between success and failure!

Eventually, Kevin and I became good friends, he was the “Big Brother” I never had! I recall how funny he was and all I have to do is re-watch my wedding videos to hear his laughter, b/c he decided to serve as our “cameraman/videographer”! His joy on our special day was infectious! His love of music was wonderful! He was always introducing me to songwriters or songs I didn’t previously know.

I was so excited for him when Kethan was born! He was such a proud Papa, I even remember babysitting Kethan as a baby. Kevin was so nervous about leaving him with us. But again, his trust in me was so awesome! When my husband and I had kids, I recall Kevin saying to my husband, who was my fiance at the time we watched Kethan, “that all of that practice my husband got babysitting Kethan was going to pay off really soon.” He just laughed and laughed! He was so excited for us when our first child was born. My “Big Brother” was one of the first people to greet our new baby girl into the world!

That was just Kevin! He was loyal, supportive, kind, generous, sweet and genuine! Truly a remarkable friend until the end.

We had been friends on FaceBook for a few years, but when he saw my posts about me being out of remission/having cancer for the second time, and my own journey, he shared with me his own diagnosis. We prayed with and for one another until the very end. The week before his passing, Kevin asked how my last test numbers were looking and I told him, better. When I asked him about his numbers, he just offered words of encouragement. I knew that wasn’t good and didn’t want to press him further. That was my very last conversation with him, I’m sorry to say.

I can honestly say, I loved him as a true friend. There was never any pretense with Kevin. He was always himself; wonderfully funny, gregarious, a joy to be around and a constant prankster! He was also a serious businessman and music DJ! He loved his family and friends with everything he had, and championed for us all, fearlessly!

I love you my dear friend! May God’s Grace, Mercy & Peace be upon your life, words and deeds! May all who remember you, be filled with the happiest of memories and peaceful understanding from God that you are now free from pain and suffering and resting comfortably in Our Heavenly Father’s Arms.

I hope to see you again one day, in God’s Grand Kingdom, my friend, my Big Bro., Kev, “DJ KNuf” but until then, you will truly be missed by all of us who knew and loved you. You touched so very many lives, and we are all better because of it!

Tearfully, sorrowfully, your friend Tracy Harris
