Kia Tamu Glover-Thomas, age 46, went home to be with her heavenly father on Wednesday, October 4, 2018. She was born on September 26, 1972 to Clarence E. and LoisDrew Glover.

Kia was baptized at an early age by Rev. Merrill Nelson at Clair United Methodist Church where she sang in the Children’s Choir and served as an usher. Kia often spoke of her spiritual birthday, October 31, 1991, when she reconfirmed her faith and love for the Lord at The Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith (Brentnell).

As a child, Kia enjoyed numerous activities with her friends. She was always proud of her 2nd place ranking in the State Double-Dutch jumping contest. Her love for music was displayed as she sang throughout the city with the Sounds of Joy, and played the violin and the piano. She attended Columbus Eastmoor High School where she participated in the Youth to Youth program and was a member of the volleyball team.

After graduation, Kia began working at the Columbus Metropolitan Library, she enjoyed reading and planning activities for the children which she called her “Library Babies”. She also found great joy in assisting and developing relationships with the members of the Linden community.

In 2008, Kia met and married the love of her life, Tyrone F. Thomas. Together, they traveled and discovered the Caribbean Islands while cruising on the Royal Caribbean cruise lines.

Kia loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was true and dedicated to her calling of spreading the Good News. She spent hours reading, studying and teaching the Bible daily. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 91. Her favorite song was “Yes” by Shekinah Glory. Her favorite YouTube pastor was Marcus Cosby of Wheeler Ave. Baptist Church. All that knew her, knew that she was a child of God.

She was proceeded in death by her grandparents: William and Bertha Glover and Pongee and Ruby Drew.

Left to cherish her memories are husband, Tyrone Thomas; her parents, Clarence and Lois Glover; sisters, Karen (Darrell) Milner and Kimberly Jones; nieces, Candace Milner and Chari Glover; nephews, Clarence (Brianna) Milner, Darren Milner, Curtis Bivins and Camron Jones; aunt, Marilyn Talley; uncle, Clifford Glover; play mother, Dr. Patricia Brown and a host of other relatives and friends.

I will really miss you Kia from the halls of Eastmoor to the halls of some of the best churches in Columbus. As our paths crossed God knew that we would have similar strides in life. I hope you crossed over well my friend. I will always love your kind words and your tender smile as you have always been one of God’s gentle giants. Your spirit was always unique even at school. I guess it is easy to see God’s workmanship on a person’s life, especially when they have been marked by God. I am so glad that you never changed toward me and I know you were a jewel to your family. I send condolences to your family . I am praying that they will be able to cope with this great loss. I still can not believe it but God knows.

To the family of Kia Thomas, please accept our sincere condolences from The Father’s Heart Intl. Church where Kia was one of the founding members. We remember her beautiful smile and the joy she expressed as she portrayed different Biblical characters in the Bible. Her stories brought them alive for us.
