IveryKourtnee

Kourtnee was born on July 9, 2002 to Sheldon L. Ivery, Sr. and Karla M. Minnefield.  Kourtnee left this world too soon on January 13, 2023.  Kourtnee was twenty years old, her short life in this world, she had accomplished so much; and, had plans on achieving so so much more.

Kourtnee graduated from Columbus North International High School and was bi-lingual in Spanish, studied French and was in the Sign Language Club.  She also graduated from The Columbus Downtown High School where she studied and received her Cosmetology certificate, all in 2020.

Kourtnee was always the life of a family gathering. For so many years she was the youngest family member. She loved to sing and actually was very good.  Kourtnee was an artist, she spent time drawing and painting.  She loved makeup and was exceptional at applying it.  Kourt was exposed to different sports and activities growing up but loved her ballet and dance with Theatre Street Dance Academy and CDance Company.  Kourt especially loved her cat Darth and spending time with her many friends whom she loved dearly.  If you knew her, you knew she was a Daddy’s girl and it showed, but most of all, her first bff, her loving and caring big Brother Sheldon.  Their bond was tight.  Sheldon was her protector, and she was her brother’s keeper.

Kourtnee was preceded in death by, paternal great-grandfather, John B. Harris and great-grandmother, Alma “Nana Banana” Ivery; grandfather and grandmother, Ronald and Daisy Ivery; great-grandfather and great grandmother Pack and Fanny Fuller; maternal grandmother, Sandra L. “Me-maw” Cousins; grandfather, Karl M. Gibson; great grandfather Lloyd and grandmother Pauline E. “Sug “Dunston; and great grandfather Henry and great grandmother, Georgia Gibson

Kourtnee leaves behind to cherish her memory, father, Sheldon L. Ivery, Sr.; mother. Karla M. (Warren) Minnefield II; brother, Sheldon L. Ivery, Jr.; grandfather, Calvin (Karen) Cousins; grandmother, Phyllis Ivery; uncles, Frank (Diana) Blacksher of Zionsville, IN and Rodney Blacksher; aunts, Maria Harmon, Lynette (Kevin) Berry all of Columbus, OH and Lisa James of Los Angeles, CA; several great aunts, great uncles, cousins and too many special friends to name.

It takes a village to raise a child, we were blessed to have a village that included family, friends, teachers and neighbors.  You all had a hand in the woman “Kourt” became, and for that we are truly grateful.

To the family of Kourtnee Ivery, I am saddened by the news of her sudden passing. Please know I am praying for the entire Ivery family. I remember Kourtnee with such fondness when I volunteered at Tray Lee Center. What a sweet, quizzative, funny young lady with a beautiful smile. I admired her smarts and charm.

The Bible tells us “To be absent in the Body is to be present with the Lord” 2Corinthians 5:8 Kourtnee is now in Heaven worshipping the Almighty God.
Rest in Heaven Dear One.

Respectfully submitted,
Ms. Minda K McCoy

I send my condolences to everybody in Kourtnee’s Family. She was definitely the light in peoples lives and a very sweet girl. No matter how far away I moved she always checked on me and I checked on her. She was my first best friend at CSIA. From all the sleepovers we had to just the simple late night talks. Ill never forget her.
