MillerLaVerne

LaVerne June Miller was born November 24th, 1945, in Columbus, Ohio to Robert H. Goins and Grace L. (Wade) Goins. She went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday June 8th, 2022, at her home. LaVerne attended Columbus Public Schools- Central High School. She received her GED in 2001. She attended Columbus State College to become a Parole Officer. LaVerne was employed by Sears Roebuck and Company, earning top salesperson. She was forced to retire due to health issues. LaVerne was the last of Grace and Robert 13 children to earn her wings.

From early childhood LaVerne attended Sunday School and church here at the Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith. She was baptized and filled the Holy Ghost. She went on to teach Sunday School and Children’s church, cook for Vacation Bible School and was a driver of the Church vans. LaVerne would hold bible study in her home. She loved to spread the Gospel of Jesus to anyone that would listen. Jehovah Witness was no match for her by the time they left, most would be converted.

In Laverne’s spare time, she was an avid reader, Bible Thumper, crossword, and word search puzzle specialist. She loved fishing, camping, picnics and spending time with her children, grand and great grandchildren, and her dog Bella. If you walked into LaVerne’s home, you would know she admired various figurines of church members, Angels, and black statuettes. Her favorite saying was, “Sit down, everybody seen you”. She was a wonderful daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be loved and missed by all.

LaVerne was preceded in death by her father, Robert H. Goins; mother, Grace Goins; husband, Delbert L. Miller; son, Alfred T, Goins; grandson, Alfred T, Haynes; granddaughter, Tiana Haynes; brother, Theodore Brown; and sisters, Janet Goolsby, Shirley Lovings, Phyllis Goins, Shardine Whitfield, Patricia Steele, and Norma Wilson.

Aunt Laverne,
Although you are in Heaven now
You are not that far away our hearts are full of memories and your with us everyday you lived your life with meaning and witha smile upon your face. A world that was full of happiness is now a empty place and people often say only time will heal broken hearts but just like me and you it has been torn apart. I know you’re are at peace now and at a place where you are free just me us at the pearly gates when Heaven calls for me.
Always Annie
