Lavon Jerell Cato
Born January 18, 1971, Lavon went home with God September 3, 2014. A graduate of Mifflin High School, Lavon served in the Navy Reserve of San Diego, CA as a Hospital Corpsman. He also studied Sociology/Social Work at the Atlanta Metropolitan College. In 2002, Lavon founded CatoStrophic Noize, a media company specializing in music production and sound engineering. In 2011, Lavon also founded The Vitamen Group, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to educating, empowering and encouraging vitality in the African-American male community. He served as the Executive Director. Lavon was a gifted vocalist and musical genius. He wrote and produced his album, Mind Over Music, in 2010. Other original compositions can be found on SoundCloud and iTunes. Additionally, Lavon was a longtime co-host of the Real Girls Rock radio show in Altanta, GA. Lavon's compassionate heart, unconditional outpouring of love, charismatic personality and zeal will truly be missed by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing him. Preceded in death by grandfather, Willie Henry Harden; grandmother, Johnnie Mae Harden; mother, Willie Mae Cato; niece, Gianna Mae Cato; aunt, Charlene Harden and uncles, Mack Thompson and John Harden. Survived by daughter, Amaria P. Cato (Delores Cato); brother, Leon James Cato; sisters, Katawi Kaneka Cato and Jayme L. Young; nieces, Tori Marie Cato and Samantha Alexa Smith; nephew, Isaiah James-Jerell Grissett and a host of other family and friends.

There is much to remember and much to be thankful for as I remember LaVon and the way he shared his life with those around him. He was a Gift of Life. He will be greatly missed, forever cherished and always remembered. He always called me “Mom.” May God’s peace, love, comfort give the family strength and courage during the hours and days ahead. My prayers always for such a time as this.
Still in total disbelief over your passing. The world will not be the same without you because wherever you went, you were LOVED by all who knew you. I can still see the fun loving dancing Cato who gave so much of himself to everyone else. You are now safe in God's arms. Rest well my friend.
Fly high TINKY:-)I've known you since birth,you were a sweet little boy and grew to be a wonderful young man.Your time was short lived,however,you acompolished much!You can now rest and be painfree reunited with your Mothere once again!

RIP…gone but never forgotten
Prayers and blessing to the Cato family and friends in this time. He will be greatly missed. We were birthday buddies since middle school, we shared our Prom Memories (IHS-89). We would talk on line like no time had passed. He was a wonderful friend at all times. He bought laughter to us…Each memory brings a smile. Rest In Heaven Lavon. Sing to us from the heavens. Stay Blessed.

No farewell words were spoken, no time to say “goodbye”.
He was gone before we knew it, and God was standing by.
Our hearts still ache with sadness and secret tears still flow. How much we all loved him no one will ever know. Let us hold on to the memories and the love that they hold.
To the Cato, Harden and all the Family, Lavon will never be forgotten and ~May Peace and Comfort from God rest with you all ~

Wow! It's unreal to think of this world without you in it. No Catodeux, no Catonoize, no Lavon shouting God's praise on every social media site you could get your hands on. Our heads hang lower, our hearts much heavier, our lives a little dimmer. You will be sorely missed, my friend. But I will smile because I know you're dancing once again with your beloved Willie Mae!!
