Leon A. Sawyer was born on March 17, 1971.  God decided He needed Leon. So, He called him home on February 6, 2022 at the age of 50. His sudden death left his family in heartbreak and in joy to have had him in their lives.  Although he was quiet, anyone who knew Leon knew he poured his heart and soul to those near and dear to him. He was a good, nurturing man.

Leon graduated from Stubenville High School where he was a champion athlete and was the most comfortable in the football field and basketball court. The simplest pleasure in life brought great joy to Leon.  He loved being around his family and attending his children’s sporting events.

Leon is the son of Paul & Joyce Taylor. Leon was preceded by grandparents Harold & Ozelia Sawyer Sr, George & Wilda Taylor Sr, his Uncle Harold Sawyer Jr, and Aunt Donna Latham.

Leon’s life didn’t come to an end with his death on February 6, 2022. His legacy will continue through the lives of his children, Teriny, Teizuhn, Brooklyn, Adonis, Makalah, Miles, Mahlia, his grandchildren Kyrie, Kylan, Kymere and Kai, his parents, his brothers and sister Latisha Sawyer, Maurice Sawyer, Travis Taylor, his nieces and nephews Arabia Jett, Shaqueena Jett, Mecca Sawyer, Jah Sawyer, Zion Sawyer, Elizhionay Harris, Ali’kwon Harris, Messiah Taylor, Ahonesti Jett, De’Moni Boone, Mekhi Snyder and a host of family members that will continue to live their best lives in his honor.

The family of Leon A. Sawyer invites you to join in a small, intimate celebration in honor of Leon. Though he is gone he will never be forgotten.  A repass will be held at 1:00 pm at Merging Ministries Church located at 360 S. James Road, Columbus, OH 43213.
