Leonard Lee Mathews, age 62. Sunrise January 27, 1956 in Atlanta, GA and Sunset January 7, 2019 in Columbus, OH.

Leonard was educated in the Beaver Falls School System. He graduated in 1974. Soon after graduation, Leonard went to the US Army, where he was honorably discharged. Serving his time in Germany.
As an adult Leonard lived in Atlanta Georgia, then finally settling in Columbus, Ohio in the early 80’s. He started a career in fast food management, eventually retiring from McDonald’s

Leonard was one of a kind and had the biggest heart. He would do anything for you. He was a jack of all trades. He loved working on cars, doing yard work, cooking, and boy did he love to eat!! Leonard knew how to fix anything! He also loved to cook out, getting up early in the morning to get things going. As a child Leonard was involved in many activities, drill team, football, and basketball. He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Ohio State Buckeyes.

He is preceded in death by father Bill Curry, and step son JoVan.

Leonard will be lovingly remembered by mother Edna Mathews, sisters Janice Mathews, Leatha (Tony) Washington, and Stacey (John) Eddings, brothers Greg Mathews, Wayne Mathews, and Andre Curry, his loving partner of 22 years Stephanie Wilson, step children Amber (Isaac), and Natasha, grandchildren J’Shon, Jeremiah, Jordan, and Cameron, special nephew Greg (Whimpy) Price, also a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Visitation 6:00pm and Funeral 7:00pm Sunday January 13, 2019 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave

Dearest Matthews Family,

Leonard did have a sweet nature. Never saw him get angry. I am sure those skills served him well in this life. A good Manager, spouse, parent & grandparent. We were all a little better with him in our lives.
