Linda “Sang” Carol DeJarnett was born to the late Harold E. and Anna W. Goode on February 6, 1940, in Columbus, Ohio. She was the youngest of 4 children. Linda departed this earthly life unexpectedly on Friday, November 19, 2021. She was 81 years of age. Preceded in death by sisters, Gwendolyn Hudson, Betty J. Roddy, brother, Ronald L. Goode, and special great-nephew, William E. Collins II.

Linda was educated in the Columbus Public School system, she graduated from East Highschool, class of ’57.’ Upon graduation, she attended the Ohio State University; she received her bachelor’s degree in African American Studies. She also received her cosmetologist license in Detroit, Michigan. She was an active individual; she was a member of the Eta Psi Beta Sorority Incorporated.

At an early age, Linda attended Shiloh Baptist Church, her mother, lived by the word and made it a point to push her children in that direction. She established her nickname “Sang” at an early age; she carried with her, throughout her life.

Among Linda’s many talents, she had a love for helping others, cooking awesome food, shopping, and was committed to taking care of her husband until the very end!

Linda retired from the Columbus City School District and previously worked for Battel Memorial Institute, White Castle Incorporated, and AAA in Detroit.

Linda “Sang” will be truly missed; she had a heart of gold that put a smile on all our faces!

She leaves to cherish her memory to her husband, Sherman DeJarnett; nieces, Anna (William) Collins Sr., Denise (Ted) Poindexter, Felicia (Michael) Harrison, Linda (Jefferey) Bennett, Nikki and Nichole Smith; nephews, George (Arlinda) Taylor of Phoenix Arizona, Charles (Deborah) Roddy, Dwight Hudson Jr., Mylan Smith; brother-in-law Raynell DeJarnett; a host of great-nieces, nephews; special friends, Christina Ross, Rita Banks, and Cynthia Jennings.

Private Visitation 9:00 AM and Private Funeral Service 10:00 AM Saturday, December 4, 2021 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave. (one block east of Noe Bixby, turn North on Lonsdale Rd.). Interment at Union Cemetery Association.
