Lola Pearson Murray was born March 17th, 1929 to the late Martha Pearson Barley and Van Pearson Sr. both of Huntsville, Alabama.

Lola grew up in Huntsville, Alabama with her three siblings the late Van Pearson Jr. and Ethel Pearson Strain. Her youngest sister Ebie Lockett will miss, Miss Lola dearly. Lola graduated from Council Train High School in 1946. Lola worked various jobs after her graduation.

Lola was united in holy matrimony to the late William T. Lewis on April 13, 1946, of which one beautiful child was born, Joanette B. Lewis in November 1947.

In 1949, Lola moved to White Plains, New York and worked there until 1956, when she moved to Columbus, Ohio and met her second husband the late Moses Murray. They were united in holy matrimony on August 29, 1966. They never divorced but legally separated years later.

Lola worked for Western Electric for years until a disabling injury caused her to retire and become a home maker. She was instrumental in giving her granddaughters, Allegra Sinay Lewis and Aja Simone Smith strong values, morals and a solid foundation for life.

Lola spent the remaining years of her life caring for family, and in 1984 Lola moved back to Huntsville, Alabama to care for her ailing mother. She remained in Huntsville until May of 2001.

In 2001 Lola’s great-grandson Ronald Loveless Hawkins III was born and she returned to Columbus, OH to care for him until he started school. During this time she enjoyed visiting family, going out to eat, and was an avid reader of the scriptures and gossip magazines.

On July 5, 2016 Lola passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving and devoted family, at Grant Hospital located in Columbus, Ohio.
