Lona Alease Lilly

Lona Alease Lilly was born in Pageton, West Virginia on April 29, 1933 and was raised in Stuart, Virginia. After graduating high school, she relocated to Roanoke, Virginia where she met her future husband, Vivian Lilly. Lona Alease was the oldest of 5 children born to the late Mildred Hagwood.

Her first born, Lauranita Moore Katende, was adopted by her beloved first cousin, Lawrence W. Moore and his late wife, Helen Marie Moore. Alease married Vivian Lilly on July 8, 1954 and gave birth to 3 additional children, Vivian Lily, Robert Lilly, and sweet baby girl, Lisa Lilly. The family settled in Columbus, Ohio.

Alease was a devoted mother and homemaker while working at, formally Western Electric. She retired at 55, after 22 years of service. After retiring, she became a loving caretaker to her grandchildren and several children of her daughter Lisa’s friend’s children. Alease enjoyed a full, abundant life and was blessed with excellent health throughout her 85 years of living.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Vivian Lilly, mother Mildred Hagwood, sisters Clemmie Floyd and Lucille Vaughn.

She leaves to mourn her passing, brothers Richard Floyd, and Robert Oneal Floyd (Carlene); four children, Lauranita Moore Katende of Winston-Salem, NC., Vivian Lilly (Cheryl), Robert Lilly (Lynn), Lisa Renee Lilly (Charles), seven grandchildren Roderick, Javiere, Dominique (Justin), Kenneth, Maya, Sydney, and Vaughn, eight great-grandchildren Marshawn, Jamahni, Justice, Juelz, Kylie, Jayda, Brayden, Terron Jr., nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation 6:00pm and Memorial Service 7:00pm Tuesday September 11, 2018 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH 2500 Cleveland Ave.
