Deacon Lonnie Houston Smith, age 94 was born to Will and Adell Smith on August 27, 1924 in Russellville, Alabama. Deacon Lonnie went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 11, 2019.

Lonnie was a World War 2 Veteran and served in the US. Army Air Forces. Upon moving to Columbus, Ohio Lonnie worked for the Timken Company for 35 years, retiring in 1986.

Lonnie has served as a member and deacon at New Generation Church for many years.

Lonnie is preceded in death by parents Will and Adell Smith, wife Jessie Smith, sons Charles and Larry Smith, sisters Zilla McDaniel, Melverine Blassengale, Magnolia Nelson, and Pauline Marshall, brothers Elmore, James, and Howard Smith.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories; daughter Patricia Saunders, and son Bernard Smith, grandchildren Aja, Tyson, Mark, and Morrie Smith, Allegra Sinay Lewis, great grandson Ronald Loveless Hawkins III, sister Lula Jackson, and brother Carrol Smith, also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation 11:00 AM and Funeral Service 12:00 PM Friday, August 16, 2019 at MARLAN GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH 2500 Cleveland Ave.

Interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
