Luther C. Dawkins was born in Columbus, Ohio March 22, 1948 to Darrell and Cleoma (Harris) Dawkins. Luther accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age by Reverend Mason at Grace Baptist Church on 5th Ave.

Luther attended Columbus Public Schools and upon graduation worked at both Ohio Malleable and Columbus Malleable Steel Mills. Luther also worked at Zinc Oxide. He said his last job at Columbus Title as a courier was the best job because he liked to drive and he went everywhere.

Luther married Jacqueline (Jackie) Young in 1968. He fathered two sons.

Luther was an avid hunter and fisherman. For 30 years he and his buddy Alonzo James would go to the Ohio River to fish and various locations for deer.

Luther leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Jackie; sons, Gregory and Luther Derrick; 11 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sister, Diana Russell; brother, Darnell Roscoe Dawkins; mothers-in-law, Vertis Young and Lillie M. Young; brothers- in- law, Derrick and Christopher Bishop, and Phillip Young; sister-in-law, Shantae Young; special cousins, Eddie Collier and Starla Carter; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation 11:00am and Funeral 12:00am Monday, May 21, 2018 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE East, 5456 E. Livingston Ave.

Interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens
