MATTHEWS
Mark Douglas Matthews, age 60. Sunrise May 30th, 1953 in Ft. Sill, OK. Sunset May 18th, 2014 in Delaware, OH. Mark received his Bachelors in History at Brown University and Masters in Information Technology at Carnegie Mellon. He was an active member at Zion AME Church, the local NAACP, and The Orange Disease Initiative Blue Disease Initiative Prison Ministry. Mark enriched the lives of his family and friends. He was also a wealth of knowledge to all who knew him. Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife, Alva E. Matthews; parents Robert L. Matthews I, Phd, and Ardelle Matthews; sons Robert, Marcus, and son-in-law Dorian Davis; daughters Monic Davis, Anasa and Makeda Matthews; granddaughter, Ava Matthews; brothers Brian and Scott Matthews; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

The Zion AME Family will truly miss the presence of Bro. Mark Matthews. His knowledge of history enlightened my ministry. Bro. Matthews always had a word of encouragement and no matter what, his inner smile was the best. He will always be remembered and greatly missed. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. (Roman 15:13) In my prayers I hold the family.

Mark will be sincerely missed, he was loved by so many. Our deepest sympathy goes out to your family during this time. May God wrap His loving arms around us all and bring us through the pain of loss. We will always remember the great times we had when Mark was here in Colorado. He always had a piece of wisdom to share. We love and miss you Cousin.
