Mark Maurice Newton, Sr.

newtonmark

Mark Maurice Newton (Duke), born March 7,1976 at Doctors N. Hospital to Patricia Ann Newton and Mark Steven Wilson. Mark attended Marion Franklin HS. He was born in the church where he was always surrounded by pray bands bible study in his own home.

As an adult, Duke attended Evangel Gospel Church under the leadership of Bishop Rodney Porter where he was a member. Mark loved his neighborhood, Lincoln Park, and his sports. He loved to play basketball. You had to respect Duke, he was a man of his word. He loved very hard. He protected you; and looked out for you. He was that type of guy that put his heart into family and everything he did. Duke loved to cook at his mom’s house; and invite and feed everyone. Just like his grandma Sophronia, feeding the whole Bolivar Arms circle. He was very protective of his mom, acting like her dad. He was protective over his sister Trice, it was a long time before she could date! Duke loved his bro Jermain, they were thick as thieves.

Mark had a great relationship with uncles and aunts, never disrespecting anyone, and always doing as asked. Duke protected cousins, friends, and didn’t mind sending you home if he thought you were in the wrong place. You would go home no questions asked. Duke was known to shut it down. You would go home even if you were grown. He was a good friend, dad, cousin, uncle, and son. If you knew him, you loved him. We loved you Duke.

Duke is preceded in death by his father, Mark Steven Wilson; grandparents, Sophronia and Charlie Newton, and JoAnn and Glenn Wilson; step father, Richard McClanahan; uncles, Larry Wayne, Glen Wilson, and Bobby Treadway; cousins, Woo, Boom, and Mack.

He leaves to cherish his memory, mother, Patricia Ann Newton; step father, Steven Allen; daughters, D’Che Jenkins, Pria Newton, Jermani Newton, Miracle Newton, and Jarhya Newton; sons, Anthony Hudson, Mark Newton, Jr., and MyYaun Newton; 4 grandchildren; brother Ricky; sister, Trice; step sister, Lisha; God brothers, David Owens, and Glenn Jr. (cousin); very close friend, JELLO; companion, Tia Holley; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and special friends.

  8. SENDING MY DEEPEST CONDOLENCES

    When God created you
He knew what he would see
    Someone that wasn’t perfect
Or in heaven you would be.

He put you here on earth
To lead this life you live
    Learning as you go
    Giving what you can give.

He knew that you would stumble
    And sometimes even fall
He knew that you would suffer
And in Jesus Christ you’d call.

    Mistakes and bad decisions
He knew that you would make
To live and learn from them
Sometimes more than you can take.

He’s had a plan for you
    From the very first day
    Frustrating times will be
But soon you’ll see his way.

    Love, hope, and faith
He’ll give this all to you
    Patience please my friend
    How only if you knew.

The love you have inside you
All the good that you do
    This does not go unnoticed
And he shall see it too.

He’ll carry you if he needs to
And hold you when you pray
He knows the pain you carry
    Each and every day.

What’s brought you to your knees
    Some gave up on you
    God will only keep around
The ones that see it through.

    One day you will see
    What I’ve been telling you
The love that he’s been saving
    He created just for you.
