MARLOWE LEE CARTER, Age 59, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday April 9, 2020. Marlowe retired from The City of Columbus Recreation and Parks in December 2012. He worked in Forestry as well as in the Landscaping Division. He started working for the City of Columbus as a teen and made a life-long career of it. He is preceded in death by his beloved Mother, Catherine E. Harris, Grandmother, Catherine I. Toney, Father, Louis Carter. He leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved Son, Martel Berry, his Pride and Joy Granddaughter, Layla Valentine-Berry, Life-long friend, Trina Berry, beloved Sister, Rhonda (Mark) West, beloved Nieces, Brandi S. Easley, and Aj’a M. Alls, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nephews, great-niece, friends and Special “Brother-Like” Uncle, David M. Toney.

Marlowe loved the outdoors and spending time with family and friends. Because of his landscaping expertise, he often helped family and friends with their home landscaping. He had the ability to make anyone’s yard beautiful. He simply had a true respect and appreciation for nature.
Marlowe was a generous, loyal and caring person; he always had a smile on his face and would do anything to help anyone. He was also an artist by nature, it was his first love. Many of his high school class-mates often remember him spending an abundance of time in the art room; drawing, painting and also learning the art of photography.
Marlowe will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Private Visitation 10:00 AM and Funeral Service 11:00 AM Thursday, April 16, 2020 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave. Please wear mask and gloves.
