Mother Martharee Chatmon

Mother Martharee Horton Chatmon known as “Mont” was born in Morgan County Valamospring, Alabama on April 12, 1943 to the late Gideon and Velma Chatmon.
She was called home to be with her Lord and Jesus Savior on April 20, 2023.

She attended Mt Pleasant Baptist Church and accepted Jesus Christ as her savior. She met and married her former husband Reverend Theodis Horton in Lacy Springs, Alabama.
To this union three beautiful children were born. The family moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1961, where she was reunited with her siblings.

Martharee joined Union Tabernacle of God under the leadership of the late Bishop Charles M. and Mother Christine Jennings. She received the Holy Ghost under their ministry.
Years later, she joined the First Church of God under the leadership of Bishop Timothy J. Clark. She remained an active member until her health declined.

Auntie Mont had a sense of humor. She loved to laugh and enjoyed being with her family. She loved all of her siblings and had a beautiful relationship with each of them.
She was a classy soft spoken elegant “Woman of God”. She was perfectionist when it came to her make up. Mac, Maybelline, Mary Kay and Revlon had nothing on her.

Martharee was preceded in death by her parents, only son; Reverend Michael Theodis Horton, 12 siblings and several nieces and nephews.

Martharee leaves to cherish her memory, Reverend Theodis Horton of Toledo, Ohio, daughters; Evangelist Gaylene Horton, Columbus, Ohio, Dena Toney, Columbus, Georgia,
sister; Eloise Edwards, Valamosprings, brother; William Henry Chatmon, Columbus Ohio, first grandson and right hand man; Leezell Horton, granddaughters; Tequila Horton,
Keioda Toney, Tristin Toney Hill as well as a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces nephews, special friend; Albert Taylor, special nephews; Robert Draper,
Brandon Chatmon , Anise Chatmon and Albert Jennings.

Let us not forget her church family and other friends.
