Mary Louise Ferguson was born on March 4, 1963, at Frankford Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was the youngest child and the only daughter born during the union of the late Ruth Marie and Ora Franklin Ferguson. She entered into eternal rest and peace at Harding Pointe Nursing Home in Marion, Ohio on Tuesday, September 20, 2016. She is together again with her parents, her grandmother, and her brothers, Harold, Thomas and Rudolph Ferguson.

Our Mary spent her early childhood years growing up between Jersey City, New Jersey and Philadelphia, going to church and school and playing with her many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She grew up in a large extended close-knit family, under the watchful eye of her devoted grandmother, Mary Jane Craig. While in grade school, Mary accepted Christ into her life and was christened at Campbell AME Church in Philadelphia under the wings of her godmother and aunt, Connie Whitmore.

In her teens, Mary moved out west to be with her mother Ruth. She completed her formal education and was a graduate of East High School in Columbus, Ohio.

Mary met and fell madly in love with Keith Binion and when she was eighteen years old, they together, had one son, a bouncing baby boy they named Brian Keith Binion. Mary loved her son dearly, for he was the joy of her life.

Every since she was a child, our Mary had a lot of personality and made a lasting impression everywhere she went. She was spirited and spoiled, and will affectionately be remembered for how she loved to get her own way. If you asked Mary her name, she would recite it with ten middle names, “Mary Louise Tom Carter Craig X X X X X X Ferguson”. The first five, she took from her grandmother and the last five, she made up for herself. She was very funny.

Our Mary was always beautiful. We all loved her smile. For most of her life, she was plagued with a difficult mental illness. It caused her many adversities and hardships and she struggled to properly take care of herself. She had many unique habits, hairstyles, and too-tight outfits, but through it all, she loved her lipstick, nail polish, wild looking sunglasses, and jewelry. She also loved her cigarettes, coffee, and “pop” soda. But, most of all, she loved spending time and holidays with her family.

We will always compassionately remember our Mary with laughter and love. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Brian Binion; brothers, Charles and Eugene Ferguson; sister, Arnetta Padgett; her devoted sister-in-law, Gwen Ferguson; her uncles, Lucian and Herbert Ferguson and Thomas Whitmore; her aunt, Connie Whitmore; eight grandchildren; and her many, many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Sorrowfully Submitted,

The Family

For God watched you as you suffered and knew you had your share. He gently closed your weary eyes and took you in His care. Not being able to say good-bye, we will always have regret. But, the ones who loved you most of all, are the ones who won’t forget. God has you in His keeping. We have you in our hearts. Your memory is our keepsake; with that, we’ll never part. God saw you were getting tired and cure was not to be. So, He put His arms around you and whispered, “Come with me.”
