Maurice Jones

Maurice Douglas Jones, 41 left us on April 24, 2020. He was also known as Mercy by his friends. Born August 4, 1978 in Columbus, Ohio to Weldon Sr. and Sandra Jones. Maurice attended Eastmoor High School. He was employed as a cook at Nationwide Arena where he loved working the VIP area, and the Columbus Convention Center.
Maurice was very family oriented, he loved football; OSU buckeyes and Greenbay Packers was his favorite teams. He loved to cook and party with friends and loved ones. He loved music and dancing. His favorite son was, “Easy Like Sunday Morning”. He also loved to harass his sister for his cookies- had to be Chips Ahoy.
Preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Jay Jones and Anna Mae Jones; maternal grandparents, Robert and Juanita Lyles; brother, Alphonso Jones; children, Juan’Yae and Kalia Jones; and a host of aunts and uncles.
Maurice is survived by wife, Latanya Jones; daughter, Alexis Jones; brother, Weldon Jones, Jr.; sister, Celestine Jones; uncles, Marvin Jones, Michael (Diane) Lyles, Duane (Ada) Lyles, Steven (Starla) Lyles; aunts, Betty J. Sims, Perrie (Leonard) Smith, Judy (Darnell) Thomas, Vickey (Calvin) Fisher; special cousins, Rayelta Sims, Alan Henderson, Tank (Felton) Thomas, and Robert Lyles; long time love of his life~ best friend, Tiffany Groce; and a host of cousins and friends.
