Today the Lord dropped Mrs. Swanson in my spirit after soon many years passed. She was my Home Economics teacher so long ago. I remember when she taught us how to make homemade ice cream, and coleslaw from scratch. Taught us how to sew small handmade duffel bags. I never forgot. The shadow of her love of teaching things that will carry you through life was a blessing for me, even til this day. During this corona virus pandemic, I wanted to find a way to help from home. Therefore i started making face mask, even though i dont sew for a living, I remembered who taught me. I wanted to thank her, but here is where i found her. My Condolence to Mrs. Swanson’s family. Thank you for lending her to us her shadow lives on in her students. God Bless you!

God Bless Mrs Swanson. Today is Juneteenth. I was listening to a talk about the importance of African American teachers to African American students, and I thought of her. I was a transplant from a small town and had attended predominantly white schools my entire life. To say I suffered from culture shock is putting it mildly. Mrs. Swanson took me under her wing the two years I was at Eastmoor and I will never forget her. Thank you for everything.
