Mia Gordon

GordonMia

June 30, 1965 the sun rose in the life of Mia Genieen Gordon, the only child to Jessie Mae Gordon. Mia came into this world with a love for the finer things in life. Being Jessie’s only child, Mia’s love for all things girlie began from Jessie keeping her dressed in PollyFlinder dresses, ruffle socks, bows, ribbons with matching purses and white high top stride rites. To the date Mia left this earth, she would be dressed to kill from head to toe. You could always find Mia with a sharp leather jacket/coat, bad purse, and shoes that would make any outfit pop.

Mia attended Ohio Avenue Elementary, Monroe Middle School, Roosevelt Middle School, and East High School. Being the daughter to a popular beautician and home health aide, Mia was watched by her aunts; Hazel Smith, Kathy Gordon, Mary Echols and Johnnie Thomas. Because of this Mia spent a lot of time around her cousin’s, too many to name. She was loved by ALL her cousins and if asked, Mia would be named by many if not all as their favorite. This was not only because of Mia’s vivacious spirit, but because they were all raised as siblings as opposed to cousins.

Mia had the biggest heart and would do all she could for anyone she knew. Mia loved to have fun and be surrounded by fun and caring people like herself. Her sister’s Carla Martin and Sabrina Thomas can attest to this. You rarely saw Mia without either Carla or Sabrina by her side. Through thick and through thin, and even disagreements they were sisters! Mia loved them and they loved Mia.

Mia loved to dance and to skate. If you wanted to find her it would often be wherever there was good music, a fun crowd, or in the skating rink, and boy could she skate! Mia LOVED music, you could find her cleaning to music while she cleaned her house which she also loved to do. Pine sol, Ajax and bleach were her favorite and every couple days you would hear that old school Mary J Blige, Guy and Jodeci get to playing and you knew what was about to happen. Even when Mia cooked she cooked to the sounds of Keith Sweat, H-Town and Teena Marie. You could even find her watering her plants and playing them music, or her favorite past time; sitting on the couch with her scratch offs listening to Ken Kemistry or Aaron Hall, and if her kids were around it was the trap music of today’s times. OUR mom just loved Good Music and being surrounded by loved ones, having a good time.

Mia may have loved fashion, skating, music, plants and her scratch offs but nothing has filled Mia’s heart more than her children; Jasmine, Auddi, Raven-Nicole, Heaven, Rayshawn-Josiah, and Arry’anna (Denaya). Her love for her children was incomparable. Although, they were raised by her Mother, Jessie, She still did all she could for her children, There was absolutely NOTHING she would not do for her Angels. Mia was so proud of her kids! She loved boasting on their accomplishments, their beauty and good looks, but most of all she was proud of how they were all children of God, and were making positive strides in life. Her kids were her joy and even when they got on her nerves she made sure they knew how much she loved them. If you asked her kids separately they would tell you one of the others were Mia’s favorite, but that’s just it, she made them all feel were her favorite by building different bonds with each of them, but loving them all equally.

Mia’s kids were her heart, but she slowed differently the day she became a grandmother. She loved being a Maw-Maw to her only grandchild, Tylen-Isaiah who she referred to as T.I! Tylen was the sparkle in Mia’s eyes and she was very proud of him. That was her T.I and he ran her world. They had their own bond that was so indescribable! She absolutely loved her grandson and he loved his Maw-Maw.
Out of all the people Mia loved, her mother Jessie, was her everything, well after the Lord. The love between a mother and her only child can’t be defined. Even when others didn’t understand it Jessie was Mia’s rock, and Mia was Jessie’s world. Jessie spent her life making sure Mia was surrounded by love, fine clothes and family. These two had special bond and nothing or no one could come between it if they tried. Mia raved about how Jessie made her children who they were and she was so grateful for that! Jessie made sure Mia had a spiritual foundation and a love for Christ growing up and Mia never strayed far from it. Raising her in church. Mia was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.

Mia is preceded in death by Maternal Grandparents, Will (Memphis) Gordon and Lois Phairr Gordon, Biological father, Richard Lucas, and Father, Wayman (Kush) Ford. Mia is survived by Mother, Jessie Gordon, Sisters; Lillie (Peaches), Sabrina Thomas, Carla Martin, Brother, Fred (Frog) Randall, Children; Jasmine, Auddi, Raven-Nichol, Heaven, Rayshawn-Josiah, Arry’anna (Denaya). Grandson Tylen-Isaiah Gordon.
