Michael Anthony Burley

Burley Main Photo (3)

Michael Anthony Burley went to sleep peacefully to be with the Lord on May 31st, 2023.

Michael was born in Columbus, Ohio to mother Mary Burley and Father Eugene Jones on October 20th, 1964.

Michael grew up in the east of Columbus where he spent his childhood and most of his adult life. He worked as a STNA for 32 years and later retired from ‘The Bryden Place’.

Michael is proceeded in death by Fannie Mae Burley (Grandmother), Mary Burley (Mother), Eugene Jones (Father), Aubrey Earl Hodge Jr. (Nephew), and MacAnthony Smith (Best Friend).

Michael – affectionally known to his family and friends as ‘Mike’ was a loving, caring, funny and outgoing person. He was a die-hard Michigan fan, GO BLUE!! Regardless of if he had a little or a lot, he was always willing to help anyway that he could. He was an amazing grandfather, father, brother, cousin, husband, and friend. Michael always wore a smile and always found a way to make light of any situation good or bad. No matter what he or anyone else was going through, you could best believe a joke would be headed your way to put a smile on one’s face. He loved hard and whole heartedly with no excuses. Michael made an impact on those who loved him by simply just being ‘Mike’.

Michael leaves to cherish his legacy and memory: Makayla Burley (Daughter), Bonus children (Maricka Phillips, Damon Ford, and Jermaine West). His granddaughters Journee Burley and Justyce LaMarr. Bonus grandchildren (Aubrey Phillips, Jahiem Heath, and Averi Phillips). Wife (Monique Phillips), Brothers (Ivan Burley and Eric Burley), sister (Tracy Burley) along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and close friends.

Michael will be missed deeply but never forgotten by those who knew him. For to know him, was to love him – flaws and all!

  7. Dear Brother
Growing up with you was such a joy. You were the one who always took up for me when Ivan would be mean to me. I am going to miss your smile and your sense of humor but most of all I am going to miss your random calls just whenever or on special occasions. You would say “Hey Sissy”, just checking on you and the girls. How is Monique and DD doing. We would talk, Catch up on old times and then you would say ” I Love You Sissy”. I did not see you much but we talked on the phone all the time. You would always tell me to plan a cookout so we could all get together and see one another. I would plan it and you would cancel and say you could not come because of your arthritis. Well bro, you got us all together, you may not be here in the flesh but I have no doubt you are here in spirit. It’s going to be sad without you here brother but your pain is over and you are in God’s hands. God, I know you will take good care of him. Rest in Peace Mike, Love Tracy, a.k.a “Sissy”
