Michael Eugene Beatty entered this world on August 1, 1958 in Union, SC. to
Dorothy Ruth Beatty. Michael lived his first 9 years in Union then moved to
Columbus, OH in 1967 where he lived until his death where he made lifelong
friends.

He attended Hamilton Elementary, Linmoor Junior High and Linden McKinley
High schools. Michael was extremely intelligent especially in math and science.
He was also a natural artist and landscape designer without having any formal
training. He could draw and design anything and was always so meticulous
about any task that he started. He worked in landscaping for Plaza Properties.

Michael was a gentle, loyal and kind soul. He had a calmness about him and he
never met a stranger. If you were a friend of his, he was loyal to you. No one
ever had a bad word to say about him. He had a special love for children and I
never saw a child that did not love him. He would just crack them up and he
always gave them a nickname. You might be a girl but Michael may call you
Knot or even Rickey. Once he gave you a nickname, he never called you
anything else. But his greatest gift was his devoted love for his wife and family.
Michael loved them all unconditionally, but he had a special unbreakable bond
with his daughter Rena and grandson Isaiah.

Michael sustained a traumatic brain injury 13 years ago. He was limited in what
he could do but he never gave up, and he never complained about anything at
all. If you would ask him how he was doing he would always say “I’m alright“
even though he was in a lot of pain. Even after his injury he did not let it stop
him. He and his beautiful wife Irene worked at the Seventh Day Adventist Food
Pantry for 7 years where he became Assistant Supervisor. They both loved
volunteering at the pantry so much and looked forward to serving the
community together. Irene was always by his side making sure all his needs
were met even if she was not feeling well herself. Michael’s and Irene’s wedding
vows meant everything to them. Their anniversary was there favorite day even
if they were not doing anything. They had a special love that not everyone gets
to share.

His favorite time of the year was football season. He and Irene lived all summer
for it. That was their favorite thing to do. He was a devoted Michigan Wolverine
and Pittsburgh Steelers’ fan. Irene, however, was a devoted Ohio State
Buckeye fan and they had so much fun going against each other; I am sure he
will still be with her when she is watching.

Michael is preceded in death by his beloved ones Dorothy Beatty (mother),
George Hardaway (stepdad), Derrick Woods (son), and Leroy Beatty, Sr
(brother).

He leaves beautiful memories to his loyal, devoted and precious wife Irene who
he truly adored and was married to for 34 years but were together for 40 years;
was by his side until his last breath. He is also survived by his adored daughter
Rena Woods, son Jason Woods; Teresa Beatty (sister), 4 grandchildren (Isaiah
Woods, Jason Smith, Nyanna (Caleb) Joyce and Ty’Rielle Davis, 6 great
grandchildren, nieces Tracey (Lee) Gill, Kimberly Beatty), nephews Leroy
Beatty Jr (Lillian), Joshua Morgan, and Kennedy Beatty, aunts Mae Fran
