Mildred Lindsey

Posted By Marlan Gary On November 17, 2020 @ 4:42 pm In Obituaries | 9 Comments

Mildred Lindsey was born August 26, 1926 in Laurel, MS to Isabella Bender and Luther McGee.

Mildred and her family moved to Columbus, OH in 1966. She worked with special needs in the 80’s at Twin Valley. Mildred was already raising her 13 children. Mildred raised and mothered her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and people of no relationship. Mildred was a child of God. She found Christ at the age of 19 and had been working for Christ since. Mildred was ordained to Pastor on September 13, 1980 at the age of 54. She was a member of Triedstone Baptist Church before getting ordained. She preached and became a member of Eternal Life Church under Pastor Thomas and later became a member of God’s House of Deliverance under Pastor David McDonald.

Mildred heard the voice of the Lord in 1993 and opened her own church. God gave her the name “So Help Me God Church of Christ”. She became the Overseer and Founder and did what the Lord said to do.

Mildred enjoyed family, praying, serving the Lord, and singing. If Mildred had anything to give, she gave it. She had a heart of gold and was a prayer warrior. She had her children, grandchildren, and other family members by the bedside saying the name Jesus. If you knew Mildred, then you knew Christ. She was strong willed, loving, kind and had a pure heart.

Mildred’s favorite book was the Holy Bible, her favorite colors were purple and brown. Mildred got her wing on November 16, 2020 at home surrounded by family, friends, and the people she loved.

Mildred is preceded in death by her husband, Tommie James Lindsey, Sr; parents, Isabella Bender and Luther McGee; children, Willie Ellis McGee, Linda Mabry, Martha Dickerson, and Crystal Fay Lindsey; brother in law, Jackson Lindsey; sisters, Martha Lee, Idell, Hattie Mae, Mary Lee, Carrie Bell, Tensie Lee, and Helen Garner; brothers, Dvid Lee and Jim McGee; grandchildren, Stafford McDonald, Willie McGee, Tyann Faith, Anthony Cox II, and Shawn Keith; and great grandson, Juanye Hawkins-Payne.

Mildred is survived by her children, Annie McDonald, Jessie Hatten, Mildred (Jim Earl) Pace, Johnny Neil (Donna) Lindsey, Tommie Lindsey Jr, Wanda Hall, Gerald Lindsey, Thomas Lindsey, and Tyrone (Timilion) Lindsey; sister, Ora Lee Washington of Laurel, MS; granddaughter Tilawanna Lindsey and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation 11:00am and Funeral 12:00pm Monday, November 23, 2020 at Victory Deliverance Church, 1718 Myrtle Ave.

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
Strength and honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth no the bread of idleness.
Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
Give her the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
