Min. Terry A. Cochran was born on April 22, 1966, to Barbara A. Cochran and Robert E. Johnson. He was called home to be with the Lord on January 25, 2022.

Terry attended Columbus Public Schools and graduated from Linden McKinley High School with the class of 1984. Terry served in the United States Marine Corps fresh out of high school from 1984-1992. After serving his country for 8 years, Terry came to Mt. Vernon Ave Missionary Baptist Church in 2001, and after three years of being in and out of church, he finally gave his life to Christ in 2004. Terry was baptized by Pastor Henry O. Leftridge, Pastor of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church which after the merging with New Zion Baptist Church is now the Unity Baptist Church.

After serving as janitor, usher, choir, and male chorus member at Mt. Vernon Ave Baptist Church, he was then led by God to teach, and he was appointed as the Youth Sunday School teacher in 2006. He served in this position for several years until he was asked to teach the Adult Sunday School Class in 2009.

In March of 2010, the Lord called Bro. Terry to preach the Gospel, and after running for a full year, he finally announced his calling to Pastor Leftridge in March 2011. He preached his initial sermon on May 22, 2011. Terry was immediately ordained by Pastor Leftridge as a Minister.

Minister Cochran joined the Ministerial Alliance in 2011 where he served as the Secretary, during that same year, he also was an active member of the EUMBA Laymen’s Auxiliary where he served as the Chaplain under the President Deacon JB Ramsey. Min. Cochran also served as an Associate Minister under Dr. Vincent L Golden Sr., Pastor.  Min. Cochran also served as an Adult Sunday School Facilitator, a member of the Male Chorus and the UBC Men’s Fellowship Ministry.

Min. Terry Cochran enjoyed traveling, dining out, spending time with his family and friends, helping others with home repair projects, but most of all – being a Servant of God. Just like his Mother – Sis. Barbara Cochran, he had a heart full of love for everyone. He often sacrificed his time, finances, and energy to help people. Min. Cochran also loved spending time around Unity, learning and often laughing and joking with his brothers and sisters in Christ. He also took his minister duties seriously by often witnessing to and praying with church members and people from the community.

Min. Cochran leaves to cherish his memories; his sisters Cheryl Streets and Tamiko Cochran, his nephew Chad Pendergrass, his favorite niece (that’s what he called her) Mykah Streets, and great niece MyKaylah Mackey. Also, his best friend Letitia Broadnax, his spiritual daughters Maria (DaQuan) Crockett and Patricia “Patty” Montgomery, the Unity Baptist Church Family, cousins, and many friends
