Minnie Mae Banks was born on October 16, 1936 to the late Alberta Wells and James Shellow in Beckley, WV. Minnie sadly departed this life on February 5, 2023.

Minnie had a calming and beautiful spirit. She was thoughtful, understanding, loving, compassionate and caring. She spent a lot of her time caring and devoting herself to helping others. She looked forward to family gatherings, she was the type of person that never wanted to miss any important milestone in her family’s lives. Minnie was the heart of her family. She believed in family unity and being there for each other no matter what. Minnie would give her last, rather than see someone she loved go without, she had a heart of gold.

It was always her dream to become a nurse. She loved helping others. She served as a nurse at the Ohio State University Hospital, and did various jobs in the medical field for decades until she retired. In her free time Minnie enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, listening to gospel music, gardening, and watching her daily soaps. She will always be loved and cherished by many.

Minnie is preceded in death by her husband; Joseph R.L Banks, son; Robert Stovall Jr., mother; Alberta Wells, father; James Shellow, step mother; Beulah lee Shellow, grandmother; Loula Lewis, grandfather; Rosevelt Underwood, great grandmother; Minnie Lewis, brothers; James, Buck and Keith, grandsons; Haneef Hasan, and Stephen Banks, and great grandson; Damon Harris.
