It is with great sadness that the family of Montez DerSean Rhunda Hagens, announces that he went home to be with the Lord, on Friday July 15, 2022. Montez was born on August 11, 1995, to Monica S. Payne and Karl L. Hagens in Columbus, Ohio. He attended Brookhaven High School and he worked in sales.

Montez loved the Lord. He had a passion for sports and played football most of his young life. Montez Loved family and cherished his daughter. Montez was loved by all, he was a very sweet yet protective person, a hustler that never took no for an answer, and would defend his family till the death no matter what. Montez enjoyed watching sports and playing games with his family.

Montez was preceded in death by his grandfather, Rhunda S. Reeder; grandmother, Dorothy L. McSpadden; cousin, Robert S. Coleman; uncle, Gabriel Hagens; aunts, Wanda W. Hagens and India R McSpadden; great grandparents, Clyde and Mary Alice Reeder, and Gloria J. Carter; great aunt, Diathia Reeder; and great cousin, Diathia Jackson Reeder.

Montez leaves to cherish his memory mother, Monica (Corey) Payne; father, Karl L. Hagens; brother, Karlonte’ Hagens; sisters, Kaliyah M. and Malaysia K. Hagens; daughter, Ariel Hagens (mother, Imani); nieces, Kaidence and Kay’Loni Hagens; nephew, Kamari Hagens; first cousins, Stacey Bush and Kristopher Broadnax; grandmothers, Gloria (Wallace) Cherry and Novella Reeder; aunts, Kimberly Reeder, Tracey Reeder-Bush, Melissa McSpadden, Shantel M. McSpadden, Lisa (Robert) Pitt, and Iris Hagens; uncle, Charles R. (Gala) McSpadden; great aunt, Loretta (Jimmy) Lake; and a host of other cousins, family members, and friends.

Hello Monty, It’s your Mam-maw,
Just want you to know your entire family and I miss you so much and wish you were still here with us. Your time here on this earth was far too short and even though you have transition home and resting in God’s arms, you will never be forgotten.
You may have left this earth, but only in part, as the rest of you lives on in Mam-maw’s heart.
