Mother Annie Ruth Barton departed this life at the home of her Spiritual Daughter, Deaconess Andre Green in Columbus, Ohio on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at the age of 98.

Mother Annie Ruth Barton was bon on August 21, 1924 in Rockmart, Georgia to the late Eddie and Willie Mae Ware. Out of thirteen children, Mother Barton was the last of her siblings of her generation.

In 1955, Mother Barton married the love of her life, the late Mose Barton and to this union one daughter was born and later adopted a son.

After relocating to Columbus, Ohio, Mother Barton united with the Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend C. T. Robinson. After the passing of Reverend Robinson, she served under the leadership of Bishop Jerome H. Ross, Sr. (Pastor Emeritus) and her current pastor, Overseer Dale D. Tucker, Sr. Mother Barton was a devoted and faithful member of Triedstone where she served on the Sunlight Missionary Ministry, Seasoned Citizens, Senior Usher Board, Gospel Choir (later became the Angelic Christian Voices), Sunday School Teacher, Children’s Band and Mother’s Board where she became one of the Senior Mothers under the leadership of Bishop Jerome H. Ross, Sr. until her health began to fail.

Mother Barton was the President of the Revival Joy Light Prayer Band with a membership of over one hundred prayer warriors.

She was an Active Foster Parent for over thirty years and received many Foster Parent Awards for over twenty years. Her passion were babies and children. After her retirement as a Foster Parent, she became an excellent babysitter to many. All her children called her “Alma”. Mother Barton was a spotless housekeeper and an immaculate/elegant dresser. She ministered to many young men and women.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mose Barton and twelve brothers and sisters.

Left to cherish her precious memory: Daughter; Jacqueline Barton Reid of Columbus, OH; Adopted Son; Mose Tommy Barton of Columbus, OH; Special Daughter and Caregiver; Deaconess Andre Green of Columbus, OH: Nieces; Janice Johnson of Toledo, OH and Mary Benton of Rockmart, GA: Nephew; Robert Pryor of Toledo, OH: Special God-daughter; Lorraine Williamson of Columbus, OH: Special Friends; Pastor Daisy Milner and Pastor Theresa Jones both of Columbus, OH and a host of other Great Nieces, Great Nephews, Cousins and friends.

Visitation 9:00 AM and Funeral Service 10:00 AM Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church, 858 E. 3rd Ave. Interment at Eastlawn Cemetery.

Deaconess Andre and the family of Mother Barton,

Mother Barton was a precious individual who loved the Lord; she always greeted me with a smile as well ask about my Mother after she met her. Every time she saw me she would say, “you look just like your Mother”. Mother will be missed. Thank you Sister Green for taking care of her. May God continue to bless you.
