Mr. Elie Williams

Elie Williams, the son of the late Harvey and Caroline Fryar Williams was born September 28, 1935 in Ruffin, SC. On April 13, 2023 at the age of 87, he was peacefully called by his heavenly Father from labor to rest at his earthly residence in Columbus, Ohio.

Elie received his early Christian education at Sykes Savannah United Methodist Church #2 in the community of Red Root. His formal education was accomplished in the Public Schools of Colleton County. During his high school years, he was very active in 4H an agriculture, drama club. For a long time, he was remembered as P. Sam (Psalm), a character in his High School Senior play. His driving career began as a school bus driver in his Junior and Senior years of High School throughout Colleton County.

After graduating, he was one of the young men of the day to migrate to the Big Apple State known as New York. After a few years of hard work in the big apple, he remembered the little girl who grabbed his hat and ran with it because she had a crush on him when she was in the 3rd grade; looked her up and asked her to marry him and move to New York with him. She accepted his proposal and have remained together for over 65 years. To this union 2 daughters were born.

He leaves to cherish many memories, his wife; Lena Myers Williams, daughters; Arlene (Thomas) Phillips and Stephanie (David) Cannady, all of Columbus, Ohio, 8 grandchildren; Tyler B. Phillips, Randall P. (Molly) Phillips, Krystyn V. (Scotty) Roahrig, Michael A. (Brittni) Head, Hailee M. Cannady, Melvon C. Cannady, Catherine C. Cannady and Melani D. Cannady, Thirteen great grandchildren, one sister; Josephine (John) Henderson, three sisters in laws; Virginia M. Myers of Columbus, Ohio, Minnie L. Myers of Varnville, SC and Gloria J. Myers of Jamaica, NY., and special friend and former co-worker; Elder Lovell Garrett and numerous other dear relatives and friends as well.

Visitation 10:00 AM and Funeral Service 11:00 AM Monday, April 24, 2023 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH 2500 Cleveland Ave. Interment at Eastlawn Cemetery.
