Mr. Jesse Lee Tufts, 78, passed away on January 14, 2023. Jesse was born on July 24, 1944 in Monticello, GA to Arthur Lee and Emma Tufts.

Jesse was a 1963 graduate of Mansfield Senior High; he served in the U.S. Army; worked at Peabody Barns for 22 years and retired from Mansfield Correctional Institute after 20 years.

He loved watching baseball, basketball, and football; especially The Guardians and The Cavaliers.

Jesse was preceded in death by his parents; son, Demetrius Tufts; brothers, Grady Tufts and Eddie Tufts; sisters Dorothy “Dot” Tufts and Patricia Linzy and 3 grandchildren.

Jesse is survived by his wife Phyllis Joyce Tufts; children, Mark (Keitha)Tufts, Keith (Kimberly) Allen, Twyla (Chris) Walton and Khristian Jones; brothers Ronnie (Carol) Remblert and Terrance Nevius; sisters, Mary (Mark) Hairston and Gloria (June) Baines-Tufts; stepchildren, Trina Alexander and Sylvanious L. (Kim) Roane Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Visitation 10:00am and Funeral 11:00am Saturday, January 21, 2023 at MARLAN GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE MANSFIELD 753 McPherson St. (formerly Williams Funeral Services). Interment at Mansfield Memorial Park.
