JOHNNY MAURICE LAWRENCE, age 76, of Lexington, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on January 5th, 2023 at
his residence.

Johnny, affectionately referred to as “Bombay”, was born Sunday, February 24, 1946 to Sonny Lawrence and Katie M. Owens in Birmingham, AL.

After his parents’ divorced, Johnny’s mother, Katie, married Johnnie Pipkins, who he referred to as Daddy. Daddy reared Johnny as his own son and had three additional children with Katie.

Subsequently, Johnny and his family moved to Mansfield, Ohio. At the age of 18, Johnny joined the United States Navy and was deployed to the European theater during the Vietnam War.

After his Navy Service, Johnny returned to Ohio. During his life he worked in construction, the auto industry, obtained his Commercial Driving Licence (CDL), and worked various jobs until retiring due to disability.

Johnny enjoyed fishing, watching professional sports, and spending time with his long-time love and partner Lucile Franklin.

Johnny is survived by Lucile, his three children; Jacques M. Johnson, John M. (Patricia) Lawrence and Jeff C. (Lori) Lawrence of Columbus, OH; grandson Iman K. Lawrence of Columbus, OH; siblings Emma J. (Odell) Suber of Columbus, OH; and Patricia A. Bradley-Rooks of Mansfield, OH, and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces across the U.S.

Johnny was preceded in death by his biological father, Sonny; his Daddy, Johnnie; mother Katie; and sister, Sadie Boone.
