Mrs. Clifford Jean Barber

Clifford Jean Barber was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away on December 12, 2021 at the age of 82.

Jean was born on November 19, 1939, in Decatur, Georgia to her parents, Clifford Wingo and Gladys Chase. She was educated in the Columbus Public School System and graduated from East High School. She cherished 52 years of marriage to her husband William G. Barber Jr.  Jean was a woman of unyielding faith in God. She attended St. Dominic Church where she was a member of the choir. She was also actively involved in other various programs within the church community.

After working in Real-estate, she enjoyed fashion, sewing, crafting, cooking, and music, especially Nina Simone. Jean also loved watching sport venues, films, and documentaries.

Jean is preceded in death by her husband, William G. Barber Jr.; daughter, Lynn Locke; parents, Clifford Wingo, and Gladys Chase; sisters, Babs-Wingo, Ethel Hairston, and Marva Wingo-Goodwin; and brother, Winston Wingo.

She leaves to cherish her memories; son, Rodney McClain; daughters, Karen McClain, and Carmen McClain; grandson, Brandon Dickinson; granddaughters, Randi Locke, Morgan Locke;

brother, Charles Wingo and other half siblings; and a host of

nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

 

Graveside Service 12:00 noon Wednesday December 22, 2021 at Glen Rest Memorial Estates 8029 W. Main St. Reynoldsburg, Ohio 43068

Karen, Carmen, Charles and family my condolences. I was so shocked to hear of Jean’s passing. We were looking forward to having lunch together. We were friends for over 60 years. My prayers for you and family.

Sorry to here about the passing of your mother and sister. I knew Jean from Linwood Ave. I used to help baby sit the children when Ethel, babs and Margo would go wrestling. I lived a cross the street my name is Gloria Jean Shackleford. (Jeannie Ervin) she was one of the sweetest people I knew. My prayers go out to each one of you.
