ReynoldsMary

Mary Lee Reynolds was born on August 9, 1928 in Praco, Alabama to the late Pearl and Mack Kennedy of Kellerman, Alabama. Mary, affectionately known to her family as Madear departed this world peacefully at the age of 91 on January 23, 2020, surrounded by her family at Ohio State University.

Mary was the seventh of twelve children. She attended school in her hometown of Praco, Alabama. She later met and married the late Walter Reynolds on December 24, 1945, and their union was blessed with 12 children. In 1964 she and her family moved to Columbus, Ohio from Harpersville, Alabama.

Mary had a spirit of giving and she loved helping those in need. Her life was devoted to her children in an effort to keep them on the right path and she was always there for her family whenever necessary.

Mary always had a great sense of humor and her smile lit up the room. She enjoyed reading, writing poetry, and shopping. She also enjoyed Shirley Temple and G-rated films which she loved to watch with her grandchildren. Mary was a phenomenal cook. Her grandchildren still rave about her homemade biscuits she would make them for breakfast. But most of all, Mary will be remembered for her strength, her hard work, her love and dedication for her family, and most importantly her LOVE for GOD.

Mary loved the Lord and accepted Him as her Personal Savior at a young age. Mary was a member of the Greater Ebenezer Cathedral of Praise Church under the leadership of Bishop William C. Reynolds where she served faithfully as one of the church mothers.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Walter Reynolds; two sisters Ethel Mae Perkins and Dolly Everett; nine brothers: Anthony, Arthur, Mack Jr., Oscar, Lewis, Frank, James, John and Jerry Kennedy and two sons-in law Bishop Harold Frasier Sr. and Alan D. Jackson Sr.

  4. Mrs. Reynolds, I am Sherry’s old childhood friend from Felton Elementary School.
My memories of you were loving, caring, and stern lady with her children. Like many
women back then, this is what it took to raise kids. What I witnessed at your birthday
party a couple of years back, your mothering turned out several masterpieces in the
    Reynolds family, and connected kin.
Your work is done here, and your legacy carries on with them. Heaven is gaining a
    beautiful soul.
    Love,
    Robin Bryant and family
