Ms. Dorothy Nell Prater sunrise on July 5, 1958, Sunset January 7, 2022. A loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was born to mother, Georgia Nell Dennis and father, Thomas Prater in Thomaston Georgia.

She received Christ at an early age and kept her faith throughout life. Dorothy enjoyed singing and was also in a church choir. In her later years she became a Seventh Day Adventist and dedicated her Saturdays to worship the Lord.

Dorothy took up sewing and Medical Receptionist through a job corps in Georgia. She relocated to Columbus, Ohio in 1981 with her family. She enjoyed being a mother, cleaning, gardening, and reading her bible. Dorothy loved playing games and doing arts and crafts with the kids. She was very thoughtful. She would have given or helped others in any way she could. She was also a strong woman who conquered a lot in her life. Anyone who knew Dorothy knew she had put her mark on the city. She loved her walking. Always full of life and on the go.

Dorothy passing was so sudden and unexpected. She leaves to mourn her passing; Children Shandra and Nigel Prater, Other Daughter Keisha; Grandchildren, Kahleel (Kahliyah) Jamison, Shyandra (Ca’Nyiah) Jamison, Danan Robinson, and London Robinson; Sibling, Sylvia Hill; Niece, Dyanne Hill; Nephews, Daymond and Dayna Foster, Micahel (Chastiddy) Dennis, Micah Hill, William Bell and many great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She is preceded in death by; Mother and Father; Sisters, Margaret and Sandra Dennis; Niece, Vontissue Mucu; Nephew, Keith Dennis.

Funeral Service 2:00 PM Saturday, January 22, 2022 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave. (one block east of Noe Bixby, turn North on Lonsdale Rd).
