Renee Louise Sims, age 61, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was born on July 7, 1961 to Pearl and Dorris Cannon (Aikens) I of Queens, New York.

Her parents unfortunately passed away when she was 3 and 4 years old. She was then partially raised by her Aunt Mary and later sent to Warren, Ohio where she was raised by her Aunt Marzee. Renee went on to graduate from Lakeview High School. After graduation she joined the Army Reserve. She soon became a mother to five beautiful children.

Renee was truly loved by all. To know her was to automatically know her. She was the type of woman that was a mother figure to anyone she crossed. She was very strong and independent; a boss who worked hard her entire life to provide for her five children.

Renee enjoyed music, dancing, cooking, playing BINGO; she enjoyed going to the internet café, gambling on the computer, playing games on her phone, taking a hot bubble bath, laying in her bed relaxed, watching her favorite networks, specifically HGTV. She had a passion for interior decorating and she loves plants and greenery. Her favorite movie was Avatar. She enjoyed spending time with all her grandkids. Renee also loved her Platinum Wigs. She absolutely did not play about her platinum hair, she stood out from everyone and she was absolutely beautiful, she will truly be missed and remembered.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Pearl and Dorris Cannon, brother; Steven Vannon, aunts; Mary Aikens and Marzee Cannon, God mom; Anna Seals and God son; Dezmon Davis.

She is survived by her children; Jonathan Cannon, Latoya Sims, Wayne Sims, Christina Sims, and Dominique Sims, brother; David Cannon, sister; Wanda and Candy of Warren, Ohio, 17 grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

I am heartbroken that she’s gone. I’ve known Renee for 20+ years since she first worked for me. She became my friend and my sister. She always called me her Big Sis. We spent many hours talking about our dreams for our children and then our grandchildren! You were her pride and joy. Please love each other the way she loved you all. Remembering her smile and laugh will comfort me. Goodnight sweet friend I love you
