The late Obed Sarpong was born on July 17th, 1986 at Winneba hospital in the Central Region of Ghana, West Africa to Mr. Samuel Sarpong and wife, Mrs. Esther Ofosuhene Essah. He started his early childhood education at Agona Swedru International boarding school at age five (5).

As devoted Christians, the entire family were members of the local Assemblies of God church in Winneba. It was at this church that Obed Sarpong started learning how to play the Piano/Keyboard/Organ. At 10years old, Obed and his brother, Gideon Sarpong of Blessed Memory, joined their parents in Italy to continue life. In Italy, Obed Sarpong enrolled at Belavitis Middle school at Udine to continue his education. As Obed grew up in Italy, he became an important member of the music group at the local Assemblies of God church. He put his gift of playing the Keyboard to serve God and His church faithfully.

In the year 2003, Obed and his entire family relocated from Italy to Columbus, Ohio in pursuit of better educational opportunities for Obed and his brother. Upon arrival in Columbus, Obed continued his High school education at the Bechcroft High School from where he graduated in 2007 with his High School Diploma. Meanwhile, Obed started worshipping at Jesus Power Assemblies of God church and continued playing the Keyboard as usual. After High School, Obed got admitted to Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) in Newark, Ohio. After two years, Obed Sarpong had to halt his college education in order to take care of his younger brother, Gideon, who was sick at that time. However, in 2014 Obed resumed schooling at the Everest Institute and successfully completed his Pharmacy Technician degree.

After graduation from College, Obed got married to his lovely wife Mrs. Mary Larbi Sarpong. After a successful wedding in Ghana, Obed worked so hard to bring over the wife and their first child to the United States. In the course of time Obed permanently joined The Apostolic Church International here in Columbus Ohio, where, according to him, the need for a Keyboardist was very urgent. Apart from his mother church, Obed played the Keyboard for other churches, but time would not permit to mention them.

While he and the wife continued to serve in The Apostolic Church, God blessed them with two more children. In late November 2020, Obed Sarpong was admitted to the hospital for a Pneumonia infection. Further diagnosis resulted in the need for an Open-heart surgery. The surgery was done successfully, but complications developed afterwards which ultimately resulted in his passing on Wednesday February 17th,2021. Obed Sarpong leaves behind a wife, Mrs. Mary Sarpong and three children: Gideon Sarpong (4yrs), Christa Sarpong (2yrs) and Elrad Sarpong (6months). May his legacy live on in the lives of those he touched with his God-given gifts!!  AMEN.
