Alberta Matthews, a devoted grandmother, beloved sister, cherished aunt, and the heart of her family, peacefully transitioned from this life on December 12, 2025, in Columbus, Ohio, at the age of 84. She was born on August 12, 1941, in Logan, West Virginia, to the late Henry and Mamie Jones.

Alberta was a proud career homemaker whose life was defined by love, service, and quiet strength. She dedicated herself fully to her family, creating a home filled with warmth, care, and unwavering devotion. Her nurturing spirit, gentle guidance, and steadfast presence left an indelible mark on all who were blessed to know her. Alberta found her greatest joy in caring for others, especially her children and grandchildren, whom she loved deeply and unconditionally.

She was preceded in death by her beloved infant daughter, Hope Matthews; her parents, Henry and Mamie Jones; her sisters, Irene Layne, Henrietta Acklin, Ella Mae Jones, and Linda Jones; and her brothers, Robert L. Jones, Albert Jones, Leroy Jones, Johnny Jones Sr., Mark Jones, and John Strumm.

Left to cherish her loving memory are her devoted son, Kelvin “Calvin” Matthews (Rebecca); her grandchildren, Kyree Matthews, Kavanah Matthews, Kyle Matthews, Javon Jones, and Emoni Davis; her brothers, Henry Jones and Essic Jones; her sisters, Brenda Mayes and Margret Jones; as well as Jeffrey Jones and Ditisha Jones. Alberta is also lovingly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives she touched with kindness, wisdom, and grace.

Alberta Matthews will be remembered for her gentle smile, her giving heart, and the legacy of love she leaves behind. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit lives on in the countless memories shared by those who loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever treasured.
