Alice Marjorie Packer Carter

Alice H. (Marjorie) Williams Packer Carter was the sixth child born to Corine Smith Lyles and Willie Williams. She was raised with love and family in Coy, Alabama. She attended Camden Academy where she played basketball and taught class to younger students. She was a Proud Member of the Camden Academy class of 1957. She attended Alabama State University in Education and Nursing.

Marjorie began her walk with Christ at an early age attending Tate Chapel AME in Coy, Alabama and continuing her walk with Christ while living in Columbus, OH and as recent Member of the Mother's Board of Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, TN.

In 1960, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Ashley J. Packer. In 1965 they moved to Columbus, Ohio with four of their children. She worked as a nurse and teacher at State Hospital. Her passion for nursing continued for over 35 years as a Private Duty Nurse.

She loved being a mother and was very active with her children in the Linden Community. She started as a team mother in Linden Eagles Athletic Association even serving as Vice President for a few years. She loved all sports, yet basketball was still her first love and she loved to watch her Granddaughters play on the hardwood. She and her sister Gevena would travel the country with Camden Academy Alumni Chapter of Cleveland, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by parents: Corine and Willie Williams; her brothers: Sammie Lee and John Lawyer Williams as well as her sisters: Alma Lawrence and Lelia Erma Banks, and her husband of 27 years: George B Carter.

(Micheal) Packer Claybrooks of Murfreesboro, TN and Tonya NR Packer of Columbus, OH; Sister-in-Law: Florence S. Packer; 20 Grandchildren; 36 Great-Grandchildren; Special Nieces: Jeanette N. (Willie) Franklin of Mobile, AL and Stephanie F. Packer; Best Friends: Nancy Johnson, Lucinda Williams and Darthula Saunders and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Relatives and Friends.
