Alkatron Franklin

March 17, 1974 — November 20, 2025

“In my father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.”

Thursday, November 20th, 2025, Alkatron L. Franklin went to his new heavenly home to be with the Lord.

Alkatron “Katron” was born and raised in Mansfield, OH by his mother, Shirley L. Franklin, along with his grandmother Isabell Franklin and uncle Lee “Honeymoon” Franklin. He was a proud “momma’s boy,” devoted to Miss Shirley from his first breath to his last.

A 1992 graduate of Madison Comprehensive High School, Katron later spent time in Georgia and Louisiana before returning to Ohio, where he earned his CDL and built a career he loved. Known as the “big kid” of the family, he found joy in bowling, WWE, sports—especially his Detroit teams and the Michigan Wolverines—traveling, napping, and driving.

In 2003, Katron married the love of his life, Angela Mack-Franklin, and together they welcomed their greatest blessing, their son Za’Kayvon. He was a proud husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.

As a man, Katron was a strong believer in the Lord; not only was he a believer, but also a man of faith. Katron walked by faith and did everything his way. Katron was a good man, a man who never gave up—a true fighter, and now he is in heaven enjoying eternal life.

Katron's legacy will continue through his wife, Angela; his son, Za’Kayvon; and his mother, Shirley. He is also survived by his sisters, Jumille and Malika Franklin; Pam (James) Duncan; Danielle (Tejuan) Browder; and Monica Johnson; his brothers, Raevon Johnson, Troy Moore, and Victor Parker.

Katron loved being a father, but he loved his nieces (Kheonzia Franklin and Kamilla Brown) and nephews (Stan and Shamir Brown, and Latrell Mack) as his own. Eight years ago, Katron became a great uncle to Dallas Powell, who became his favorite among his nieces and nephews. He was Dallas’ “Old Man,” and they loved to fight and wrestle; Katron would always “let him beat him up.” Seven years later, in 2025, he became a great uncle again to Houston and Krew Brown, whom he loved just as much.

I bet when Katron made it to heaven, he ran into his grandmother, Isabell Franklin, arms open wide, giving her the biggest hug. He found his uncles Lee and Velmon Franklin just to talk and listen for hours. He is probably still being the biggest kid ever, picking on his baby cousin, Jaylin Favers, and talking to his in-laws, Wille and Jurline Mack, about his loving wife and son.

Katron had a lot of people that meant the world to him; special aunts Doris Feagin and Bonnie Manns; special uncle Roosevelt Manns; special cousins Rajan Franklin, Lonnie Feagin, Lavon “Boo” Jackson, all his first cousins, and a host of family and friends; special God- siblings Cordero and Diamond Reid.

Although you may be gone from this side of the earth, it is said, “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” We thank God for the 51 years you had here on Earth. We will see you on the other side of those gates made of pearls in heaven one day. We thank God that you are free, no longer worrying, no longer in pain. We thank God that you are okay! Just know that we are going to be okay because we know you are free. You may be gone physically, but you will always be in our hearts.

As Miss Shirley would say, “I love you, I love you, I love you! ”

And we love you, Katron. Rest well until we meet again. Enjoy your new home, and we shall meet one day again.
