Andrea Jean Coles, also known to many as “Suggie”, was a lifelong resident of Columbus, OH, and received her heavenly wings on June 4, 2025, at age 72.
Born on October 31, 1952, in Columbus, OH, to Beverly Bell and Richard E. Coles, Andrea carried a light that shined so brightly to the world around her. Serving as Cheerleading Captain of Linden McKinley in 1970, she went on to attend Kent State University, where she became a Kappa Sweetheart. In 1987, Andrea and Joe McLemore. welcomed her baby girl and only child, Courey Aigner McLemore.
Andrea then dedicated over 30 years of her life as a public servant for the State of Ohio as an administrative assistant and retired thereafter. During her retirement, she enjoyed being an active and hands-on grandmother to her only grandchild/granddaughter, Journey Betts.
With a heart of gold and unmatched generosity, Andrea was known to open her arms & her home to anyone who needed it. Whether it was a safe place to sleep or offering a kind & encouraging word, Andrea lived a life full of servitude.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted daughter, Courey McLemore of Columbus, OH, and loving granddaughter, Journey Betts of Columbus, OH; mother, Beverly Modena; two brothers, Derrick Coles Sr. and Martin Modena, and a host of other friends and family members.
Lovingly known as “Mommy” to many outside of Courey, Andrea also played a pivotal role in raising her honorary children, Ralph Carter (Alexis) and Christina Scott (Todd), whom she looked after as if they were her own. Andrea helped raise more kids than she could count, and her memory & impact will live on in the lives of many.
