Annie Ruth Smith

Annie Peewee Smith, age 82, passed away on August 28th, 2026, in Columbus, Ohio. She was born June 28th, 1944, in Laurel, Mississippi, to the late Ed and Hattie Rhodes. Annie was the true heart and anchor of her family.

On September 21, 1963, Annie married her best friend, George W. Smith, and later moved to Columbus, Ohio. Annie and George built a foundation of straight, unconditional love and deep devotion that helped their family stay closely knit through every season of life.

Annie preceded in death her beloved husband, George W. Smith; parents, Ed and Hattie Rhodes; granddaughter, Markita Smith; and brothers, Joe Rhodes, Marvin Rhodes, and Rudolph Rhodes. Sisters Eddie Mae Bender and Debbie Rhodes.

Annie leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, George (Renee) Smith, Willie (Brenda) Smith, Paula (Larry) Blount, and Latonia (Patrick) Yarbrough. Brothers: Eddie, Douglas, Cornell, and Clifton Rhodes. Sisters Shelly Davis, Doris Rhodes Walker, Dorothy, Demmie, Linda Rhodes, and Alice Suber.Grandchildren Nilzarrel (Alexis) Townsend, Rasheena Smith, Larry Smith, Tasheia (Issaka) Garba, Yakima Smith, Tonjameia Smith, Moneisha Smith, Marsaan (Iyonna) Banks, George (Sherry) Smith, Zayahna Smith, 27 great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
