Barbara Ann Blakey

Barbara Ann Blakey 68, was born on June 17, 1957 in Warren, Ohio. She was the daughter of Henry William Provitt Jr. and Emma Lee Rutledge Provitt.

Barbara was a proud graduate of Warren City Schools. She also is a graduate of Kent State University with a B.S. in Nursing

Barbara was a devout Christian woman. She was a member of the 2nd Baptist Church Columbus, Ohio for over 40 years. She enjoyed studying the Bible and attending Bible study faithfully on Wednesday evenings. Barbara cherished the time she spent attending Sunday morning worship and sharing her faith with others.

Barbara worked at Nationwide Children’s Hospital for 41 Years. She worked at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, Ohio for a year after graduating from Kent State and before relocating to Columbus, Ohio. Barbara graduated from Warren Western Reserve High School as a LPN at 17 years of age. She went on to earn a B.S. in nursing. She spent a total of 51 years in nursing. She loved nursing and caring for others.

Barbara had a God-given gift for artisan skills, especially in jewelry making. She was also talented in painting angels, creating and painting clay figurines, and crafting chain metal jewelry. She had a deep passion for attending jewelry classes and creating beautiful beaded pieces. With a generous heart, she often shared her talent by gifting her handmade creations to family and friends, leaving them with meaningful keepsakes to cherish.

At Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Barbara met Daryl in 1984 while he was working as a mail clerk delivering mail. She later married Daryl Lamont Blakey on April 20th, 1985. Together, they built a loving family and raised three daughters and one son: Lamont Mario Blakey (46), Bianca Montia Blakey (32), and Brooke Emari Sayles (29) (Danzell Sayles, 30). They were also blessed with two cherished grandchildren: Zoë Blakey (16) and Prince Blakey (11). Barbara was a doting mother and immensely proud of her family and treasured every moment spent with them.

She leaves to cherish her memory, Her loving Husband: Daryl Lamont Blakey, her Children: Bianca Montia Blakey, Brooke Emari Sayles and Lamont Mario Blakey. She has three Sisters: Leana (James Spencer), Justine Provitt and Kacynthia Ingram and Desmond Provitt who was raised as her brother. Barbara has Two Grandchildren and a host of loving relatives and friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter: Brittany Alexandria Blakey.

Barbara departed this life peacefully surrounded by family and friends on April 8, 2026. The love and compassion she shared with others was extended to her as she transitioned to her new heavenly home.
