Bernice Betton, age 88. Sunrise May 25, 1937, in Columbus, Ohio, and Sunset April 10, 2026, in Columbus, Ohio.
Bernice graduated from Central High School. Through her love, devotion, and faith in Jesus Christ, she loved family and friends unconditionally. She was a loving, devoted wife & mother, a loyal friend, a great cook, and a homemaker. She was such a prankster, keeping such a straight face that you never knew that she was in on the joke. Her love for children was unmatched, spoiling them like no other. She was very talented and creative, drawing almost anything that you requested. Some of her favorite shows and movies were: The Rifleman, The Blues Brothers, Walker, Texas Ranger, C.H.I.P.S., Starsky & Hutch, and a special fondness for horror movies. Cooking brought her joy, from making family dinners to even her own BBQ sauce for the cookouts.
Some of the most memorable times were when she supported her children by talking to their invisible friends or allowing them to put mud cake in the fridge that they had made especially for her. Showing her love and creativity for her children, she made paper dolls and clothes so they could play dress up.
Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Louis Betton Sr.; son Jeffery Johnson; parents Gino and Violet Craft; sisters Mary Craft, Martha Glenn, Delores (Warren) Armstead Sr; brothers James Rosevelt Craft and Richard Craft.
Left to cherish her memory sons Edward (Lorena) Betton Jr., Todd (Velma) Stokes; daughters Rinda Strain, Letitia Betton, Tondrea Betton, Aretha Queen Betton and Kimberly Arrington; sisters Dorothy Craft, Bertha Craft, Kathy Caliman; brother Lewis Craft; devoted grandson Sterling Johnson, 20 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren along with a host of family and friends. Her smile could light up the room; you could feel the love shining through. Bernice will truly be missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
