Beverly Jean Hunter, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, wife, and friend, departed on Friday, August 28, 2026, at the age of 82, in Columbus, Ohio.
Beverly was born on December 21, 1943, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Ceaphus and Deota Hoke. She was the third of seven children born to this union.
Beverly attended the Columbus Public School system and graduated in 1961 from East High School. She married William Glenn Hunter 1976, and they were wedded for 33 years until his death in 2009. Beverly worked for the State of Ohio at the Rosemont School for Girls, where she dedicated 25 years of service before retiring.
Beverly learned about Jehovah God at an early age and decided to make a dedication to serve him and become one of his Witnesses in 1960. She devoted time to help others to learn about Jehovah as a pioneer for 12 years. Through this work she was able to share bible truths and help many to come to know Jehovah and support them on their journey to dedicate their life to him. The most important people she was able to instill love for Jehovah were her children, son Marcellus and daughter Annetta. Beverly ensured that Annetta, though disabled, knew the importance of prayer. To this day Annetta makes sure she prays before every meal. Beverly was a devoted member of the Woodland Terrace and Columbus Central Congregations and remained a very active member as long as her health allowed.
Beverly was a sharp dresser and could make any outfit look good. Her hospitality was top notch and she made her home feel like a home away from home whether you were staying for a few minutes or a tad bit longer. Beverly loved to garden and her yard was immaculately kept.
Beverly treasured family, both biological and spiritual. The greatest display of that love was shown through the bond she had with her children Marcellus and Annetta; grandson Marcellus Jr., and great-grandson, Romero.
Beverly touched many, from family and friends, to those in the community. As we await the fulfillment of Revelation 21:4, one of the bible truths that Beverly shared with so many, we will miss but fondly remember her for her faith, love, resilience, style, hospitality, grace, dignity, and modesty.
Beverly was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Glenn Hunter; her son, Marcellus Romero Kibby Sr.; her parents, Ceaphus and Deota Hoke; her sisters, Neceil Mathis, Retta Mae Coates, and Vernetta Hoke; and her brothers, William, Ceaphus, and Larry Hoke.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughter, Annetta Maria Kibby; her grandson, Marcellus Romero Kibby Jr.; her great-grandson, Romero; her special sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Hoke and her aunt, Prudence Duncan; long with a host of nieces, nephews, stepsons, and other relatives, and many dear friends.
