Brandon Maurice Griffea, a 36-year-old resident of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on August 23, 2025. Born on November 2, 1988, in Columbus, Ohio, Brandon was the son of Keith and Sheena Griffea. He graduated from Central Crossing High School in Grove City, Ohio, in 2007. Shortly after graduation, Brandon discovered his passion for the construction industry while simultaneously pursuing work in the culinary arts. From a young age, Brandon’s parents recognized his unique qualities.
His inquisitive nature led him to become fascinated with musical instruments at the tender age of two. He developed a profound love for music and demonstrated exceptional rhythmic abilities. His inquisitive mind naturally drew him to the drums, where he excelled and eventually mastered them. His passion extended to the bass guitar, which he also quickly mastered. Unbeknownst to him, playing the piano would soon become his next musical endeavor. His parents recognized Brandon’s potential and enrolled him in music lessons, only to discover that he possessed an innate ability to comprehend the complexities of music.
He played by ear and could articulate precisely what he heard and saw. All that remained was the acquisition of reading music skills. By the age of four, Brandon was recognized as a child prodigy, gifted and talented in various musical and artistic areas. His remarkable learning abilities and quick thinking enabled him to become a formidable force in baseball, basketball, and football. Throughout his middle school years, he received numerous accolades for his exceptional performance in these sports. During his academic pursuits, Brandon maintained an above-average academic standing while actively participating in extracurricular activities. He developed a keen interest in cooking, observing his parents and grandparents in the kitchen, and honed his skills to become an accomplished chef in his later years. While Brandon had not considered cooking for the general public, it was an inherent part of his DNA.
To know Brandon was to experience true love and friendship, as he cherished creating lasting memories with those around him.
Family and friends will mourn the loss of Brandon Griffea, a beloved soul who left behind a lasting legacy. He eagerly anticipated family gatherings, where he would share home-cooked meals prepared by his extended family. His infectious smile and charismatic personality captivated everyone he met, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere wherever he went.
Brandon is survived by his parents, Sheena and Keith Griffea, and his siblings, Keith and Delandis Griffea, from Columbus, Ohio, and Cameron Griffea, from Atlanta, Georgia. He is also cherished by his nieces and nephews. His grandmother, Euvenia Chartley, and aunts Lenora, Nina, Rhonda, and Erica, as well as cousins Dani and Stephanie, and uncles Ray and Tony, from Elyria, Ohio, Stephan and John, from San Antonio, Texas, also hold him in their hearts.
Brandon was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Neadom and Louise Oliver, and his paternal grandfather, John B. McGowan.Though his journey on earth came to an abrupt end, his impact on those he touched will endure forever. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in every smile he created, every cherished memory, and the love he shared with all who knew him. Brandon’s legacy will serve as a beacon of love and joy, inspiring generations to come.
