Brenda Green-Taborn

Brenda Kay Green-Taborn, 60, of Springfield, OH, went home to be with the Lord on Monday morning, August 25, 2025, at Springfield Regional Medical Center. She was born April 8, 1965, in Springfield, OH, the daughter of Johnny George Mays Sr. and Evelyn Cleo Johnson. Brenda was deeply devoted to her family and will always be remembered as a loving mother, proud grandmother, amazing sister and cherished aunt.

Brenda had a deep love for music; whether listening, singing, or sharing it with others, it was the soundtrack of her life. She enjoyed spending her Friday nights with her sister playing cards. Her heart was fullest when surrounded by her grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and joy. She was a true warrior who fought the good fight against breast cancer with grace, courage, and unshakable strength. She never gave up, and even in the hardest moments, she showed us what true bravery looks like. Her faith, her smile, and her love for her family carried her through the battle. To us, she will always be remembered as a fighter, an inspiration, and a beautiful soul who touched our lives in countless ways, and she will be forever missed by those who loved her.

Brenda leaves to cherish her memory, her partner of 26 years, Chris Shine, son Tristan (Nicole) Quintero of Springfield, OH, and daughter Briana DeArmond of Columbus, OH. Sisters: Shirley (Timothy) Yarbrough of Columbus, OH; Denise Green, and Joyce Johnson, both of Springfield, OH; Brother: Johnny Mays Jr. of Miami, FL; Grandchildren: Rhilyn Long, Rhi’ana Long, True Quintero, Armani Long, and Treyson Quintero. Nieces and nephews, Dion Green, Tasha Simmons, Shannon Hayes, Meagan Duncan, Jocelyn West, Raymone West, and Kristifer Mitchell. Along with other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Best friend: Sharon Walls, Goddaughter; Shanae Walls. Brenda is preceded in death by her mother and father, Aunt Laverne Darden, two grandchildren, Triniti and Tristan Quintero Jr.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm at Impact City Church of Springfield, 1100 Sunset Avenue, Springfield, Ohio. A Celebration of Life service honoring Brenda will commence at 3:00 pm, officiated by Minister Jesse Edwards.
