Brenda Joyce Harris received a call from The Lord and got her wings on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. Brenda was born on April 23, 1950 to Ralph and Anna Lou Jones who preceded her in death, as well as special mother, Ora Jones..
Brenda was the devoted, wife of Phillips Irving Harris for more than 50 years and mother of Stacy Harris Macarthy, Phills (Ken) Clark, and Stephanie Harris. She cherished her two beloved grandchildren Khameron and Madison Macarthy and burst with pride of their many accomplishments.
Brenda's professional career spanned for more than 30 years with Columbus City Schools (CCS). After retiring from CCS, she started her second career as a data system trainer with State Teachers Retirement System where she served in that position for 20 years.
Brenda loved The Lord and was a faithful member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church for 32 years under the Pastoral Leadership of the late G. Thomas Turner, Sr. and Dr. Scottie L. Aaron where she served in the Adult Choir and volunteered on many church ministries.
Brenda leaves to mourn, her husband Phil, daughters: Stacy Harris Macarthy, Phillis (Ken) Clark and Stephanie Harris. Her grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart, Khameron and Madison Macarthy - the light of her life. Sisters: Priscilla Wilson and Michelle Jones (Rick Jackson), and Brother Michael (Linda) Jones. Brenda was loved by many m. While she loved her family and had great relationships with her in-laws, she held a special loving bond with sister-in-law: Constance Groce and brother-in-law: Luther Harris.
Preceded in death are Brothers Ralph (Carolyn) Jones and James (Donna) Jones. Maternal grandparents Relus and Willa Mae Evans and special uncle, Robert Evans. Father-in-law Reverend James B. and Josie Harris. Paternal grandparents: Vernon and Helen Marie Jones. Brothers and sisters-in-law: James Harris, Gwendolyn Herrell, William Harris, Deborah Harris and Nada Harris.
Brenda leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, a church family, many friends and professional colleagues who loved her and will miss her presence and personality.
Brenda's unique ability to connect with people is a trait that has been passed down to her three daughters, Stacy, Phillis and Stephanie - her best friend all their lives.
The family will lay Brenda to rest in a private graveside ceremony. We ask that you give us time to mourn her loss and that you keep us in your prayers.
