Caroletta Jean Hines was born on November 17, 1953, in Birmingham, Alabama, and from the very beginning, she embodied kindness, strength, and grace. She dedicated her life to caring for her family, always putting the needs of others before her own. A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, she created a home filled with love, laughter, and warmth.
She had a gift for making everyone feel special, whether through her comforting words, home-cooked meals, gentle wisdom, and warm hugs. Her faith, compassion, and resilience were an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a member of Higher Ground and attended the Church of Christ, where she was a long-term member of The Pentecostal Prison Ministry. Caroletta also worked as a Red Coat at OSU for 25 plus years.
Her greatest joys were spending holidays and cookouts with her family and friends. She loved baking homemade rolls, pizza, and ice cream.
Caroletta was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Lee Hines Sr and Ceola Hines, son Shawn A. Hines, sister Amelia Hines, and brother Willie Lee Hines II.
She is survived by her son Laureese (Kanika) Hines, grandchildren Tyiler Hines, Markale Hines, Lyrik Hines, and 4 great grand children, her brother Micheal (Leanne) Hines, nieces and nephews Wetzel “Tony” Hines, Warren (LaJiah) Hines, Latisha (Gary) Lewis, Danielle Hines, Willie “Lee” Hines III, Gabrielle Hines, Micheal (Andrea) Hines, Nigel Hines. Uncle David (Cloe) Washington, Aunt Shirley Davis, her two Besties For The Resties, Cousin Jeanie (Frank) Norwood, Breanee Taylor, and a host of family and friends who will forever cherish her memory. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy of love, strength, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
