Catherine Dale Morgan was welcomed into the loving arms of her parents Mamie Elizabeth Tillman Morgan and Herman Dale Morgan on October 6, 1949. Mamie and Herman raised Cathy to love and serve the Lord. She attended Ephesus Academy and later attended and graduated from Columbus Public Schools. She began her studies at The Ohio State University but later graduated Summa Cum Laude from Columbus Business.
It was during her attendance at South High School that she met and later married Robert Taylor, Jr. Together they raised four children. Benevolent, they graciously, lovingly and altruistically fostered two children for a period of time. Cathy’s greatest achievement is that she taught them all to love, worship and revere Him.
Cathy pursued her career aspirations early. Her first job was babysitting neighborhood children. She later worked as a “Girl Friday” to Ohio Governor, James Rhodes,’ assistant. Cathy was one of the first few women carriers in the United States postal service. She then worked as a telephone operator at Ohio Bell for several years before choosing to become a stay-at-home mother while assisting her husband operate their family-owned janitorial company.
When Cathy made the decision to re-enter the workforce, she chose Borden, Inc. Comfortable charting her own course, soon afterwards, with a leap of faith and a word of prayer, along with the familial support of her beloved brother, Toby, along with his loving wife, Alice Faye, she accepted a position in Exxon Oil company’s accounting department located in Houston, Texas. Although she flourished in her position, Cathy made the heart felt decision to return to Columbus to care for her aging mother. After decades of serving the federal government at the Department of Defense, Finance and Accounting Service as a Financial Specialist, she retired and pivoted herself toward serving the Lord and her church community full time.
Cathy enjoyed several passions including: Hosting & entertaining: family, friends, neighbors and acquaintances, playing in organized bowling leagues, playing board games, collecting rare and antique coins, preparing macaroni & cheese, gabbing on the telephone and providing commentary to her children as they collectively viewed the family’s favorite television programming.
Ultimately Cathy’s life was defined by her service to the Lord and her church communities. During her lifetime she was an active member of Ephesus Seventh Day Adventist Church (Columbus, Ohio) Fondren Seventh Day Adventist Church (Missouri City, Texas) and Central Seventh Day Adventist Church (Columbus, Ohio). “Church Lady” as she was affectionately referred to by daughter, Robyn, Goddaughter, Reina and all her nieces and nephews, offered her talents to the Lord throughout the years by serving as: Sabbath School Teacher, Usher Board Leader, Treasurer, M.V.
