Christine Elizabeth Neal passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026, at the age of 83.
Christine was born on September 10, 1942, in Concord, Georgia. She dedicated 42 years of service to Grant Hospital before retiring, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment. She was a proud and devoted member of United Bible Missionary Church, where she faithfully served on the Mother's Board, as a Deaconess, and as a Missionary. Her love for God was unwavering, and she made sure everyone around her knew it.
Known by many names; Mommy, Grandma, Auntie, Baby Sister, and Mrs. Chris. Christine wore many hats and embraced every role with love and strength. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.
Christine was a woman of many talents. She loved cooking, sewing, baking, and, most of all, loving on her family. She was caring and nurturing, yet strong, spirited, and full of fire; a true, God-fearing woman. A longtime presence on the south side of Columbus, especially on 22nd Street, her home affectionately known as "Grandma's House" or even "The House of Pain", was always open. It was a place where you could count on a good meal, plenty of love, and sometimes a little tough talk to keep you in line.
Christine lived a full and remarkable life. Today, we do not mourn, but celebrate the beautiful life she lived. She was tired, and God heard her cries-calling her home peacefully, free from pain and suffering, into the arms of her Lord and Savior.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Willie Anthony Neal; her parents: Williams (Will) Mitchell and Annie B. McClendon; her sisters: Georgia Bell Mims and Willie Mae Dixon; her brother: William "Charles" Mitchell, Jr. and her great-grandson: Mister Dewayne Martin.
She leaves to cherish her memory her Sisters: Mildred Pace, Linda Hastings, and Sarah Holloway; her Brothers: Winston R. "Nelly" Mitchell and Timothy L. "Mook" Mitchell; her Daughters: Cecilia Weiler, Cassandra Mitchell, Stephanie Jones, and Nicole Loveless (Demetrius Loveless, her favorite Son-in-Law), all of Columbus, Ohio; her Grandchildren: Shantá Martin, Shawnetta Mitchell, Christina Jones, Billy Martin, Christy Martin, Jack Weiler, Aryc Dabney, and Elijah Dabney; and her Great-Grandchildren: Shawndá Martin, Shawndaretta Mitchell, Shawnea Mitchell, Christian Jones, Whitney Martin, Christopher Martin, and Sir Robert Martin.
She also leaves behind a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Extended Family and dear friends who will continue to honor her legacy.
