Cisco Eugene Childers

January 6, 1954 — January 25, 2026

Columbus

Cisco Eugene Childers, born to George and Helena Childers in Cincinnati OH on Jan 6, 1954, departed this life on Jan 25, 2026. Cisco was baptized Catholic as a child. He was a follower of Jesus Christ. He had a relationship with God and kept a strong faith in God until his last breath. His life is a story of redemption, and he knew who his redeemer was. He had a huge heart, and his courage was unmatched. He graduated from Lawrenceburg HS in 1972, where he played high school football. He proudly served his country as a Vietnam Veteran in the US Army where he received an honorable discharge. He received a Honorable mention, thanking him for his service from President Obama. He was a soldier on and off the battlefield. He was fearless and would lay his life down for his family and his loyal friends. Underneath that strong surface was a kind man with a huge, loving heart.

Cisco lived much of his adult life in Columbus, OH. Affectionately called “The Cisco Kid” or “Chaldi” by his friends and loved ones. His many talents included certifications as an HVAC heating and cooling specialist, asbestos removal specialist, and certified electrician working for the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority. He was brilliant when it came to fixing anything; he was a master builder. He was adventurous, he enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, camping, listening to music, singing his favorite songs, grilling, playing pool, playing cards, collecting cars and trucks, and other treasures he longed to share with his loved ones. On any given day, he enjoyed spending hours sitting outside in his front yard, enjoying nature or taking a stroll in his supercharged motorized wheelchair. He loved cooking, kitchen gadgets, and electronic gadgets of all kinds. He was an avid reader, staying up on current events and politics. He had jokes for days that would keep you laughing. Cisco’s heart was his family his joy was being able to teach the younger generations how to be self-sufficient. Cisco was serious about his business; he never backed down, he believed in showing strength not weakness. He was a man who commanded respect by his presence alone.

He loved his family with fierce passion, especially his children and grandchildren, and the beloved cat that he said was his soul mate. He had a powerful desire to build family unity and community. He would help anyone he could in need, often teaching his friends and neighbors how to fix things in their homes. As the Patriarch of our family, saying he will be missed is an understatement. To us he was larger than life, but God has seen fit for him to take his well-deserved rest. He was a fearless warrior, and he fought the good fight. If you called Cisco on any given day no matter how he was feeling, he would say. “I’m blessed by The Best.”
